Welcome to Invictus Fencing Club, a place where committed coaching, a strong sense of community, and a genuine love of the sport come together.
Our sessions are thoughtfully structured to give fencers a complete and engaging training experience. Each session weaves together strength and conditioning, footwork, bladework, tactical drills, and both conditional and free fencing, so that every athlete is developing physically, technically, and tactically at the same time.
Our aim is to support foil fencers who genuinely want to improve and take their fencing to the next level, whatever that means for them. We take a proven long-term approach, focusing on building not just results, but well-rounded, capable fencers and confident people. At the core of everything we do is footwork. We see it as the foundation of good fencing, and we invest heavily in getting it right. Alongside this, we emphasise understanding. We don’t just teach actions, we teach the reasoning behind them, so our fencers can think, adapt, and make good decisions under pressure.
We are a friendly, supportive, and inclusive club where people are encouraged to challenge themselves while feeling part of a strong community. Whether someone is picking up a foil for the first time or already competing at a high level, they are welcomed, supported, and coached with the same care and attention.
Our track record speaks for itself. We have developed fencers who have gone on to become Regional, National, Oceania, and Commonwealth champions, and we continue to produce athletes who perform at the highest levels. Invictus-trained fencers consistently feature at the top of the New Zealand foil rankings, regardless of where their fencing journeys take them, reflecting the strength and longevity of the foundations built here.
Above all, we are passionate about fencing, about doing things properly, and about helping people become the best version of themselves both on and off the piste.
