Our head coach is Neil Young, who has over 30 years of local and international experience in fencing. He has been coaching since 1994, and has trained, fenced and refereed in Italy, Sweden, the Netherlands, the UK, France, Germany and the USA. He has been coached by multiple time world champion Sergei Golubitsky, Hungarian national coach Zoltan Bernat, Italian Maestros Guido Marzari and Giulio Tomassini, and Maitre Barry More, amongst others. He coached the NZ Foil team at the 2018 Commonwealth Championships and has also led NZ to gold at the Oceania Fencing Championships in both team and individual events at Open and Age Group levels. He coaches several current and past New Zealand team representatives, and national and Oceania champions.

He is an accredited Oceania Fencing Masters Association Level 2/FIE Level 3 coach.

Our other primary coach is Vicky Fan. She is a certified OFMA Level 1 coach and has represented NZ several times as an individual and also as part of the NZ Team at multiple Commonwealth Fencing Championships. She has trained in NZ, Hong Kong and Hungary. Her coaches have included Maitre Barry More, Hungarian National representative Judit Fliszar, and Coach Neil, among others. Vicky has been fencing since high school and has a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Ruby Chan coaches junior fencers and leads footwork and warm ups often. She is an extremely competent fencer with an outstanding work ethic. She inspires all of our fencers to work hard and excel. She has an excellent understanding of the nuances of fencing which she uses to help her clubmates. She learned the basics of  fencing in Hong Kong and has continued her journey under the guidance of Coach Neil. Ruby is the current Oceania Junior Women's Foil champion,  Australian Junior Champion, as well as NZ senior Women's Foil Champion.
